Chapter 4

The next morning, Lizzy was in a state of confusion. She desired Mr Darcy, there was no doubt about that. And she was certain he desired her with equal passion.

But did she love him and did he love her?

Her confusion only increased when Charlotte informed her that Darcy had acted cruelly toward Mr George Wickham, a friend of the Bennet family.

So when Darcy took her into the sitting room that afternoon, her feelings were mixed.

Her feelings were further confused when he made a blunt, arrogant proposal of marriage. He was certain she would accept him immediately.

“After all, Miss Bennet, we enjoyed pleasures of the flesh last night. That is to say, you sucked my cock and I licked your cunt. Therefore, I feel it is inevitable that you will accept my offer.”

His words, so arrogant and proud, infuriated her. The fact that he simply assumed she would wish to marry him enraged her. And the fact of his cruelty to Wickham angered her to a great degree.

“Mr Darcy,” he said calmly and coolly, “I find your words offensive and rude. I cannot and will not marry you.”

He was genuinely surprised.

“But why, Miss Bennet?”

“My friend told me how you have treated Mr Wickham in the past. That, together with your arrogant assumption of my acceptance, is the reason.”

Her words angered him in turn. He looked at her in silence.

“Very well,” he said at last. “Perhaps I should return to Pemberley.”

“Yes, perhaps you should.”

With that, he turned on his heels and left. He immediately took a coach and returned to his home in Derbyshire.

Lizzy sat for a while in the sitting room. Had she done the right thing, he asked herself. She had acted honourably, she thought. Her conscience was clear. Her heart felt pure. However, when she remembered the previous night and felt a tingling in the secret place between her legs, she wasn’t so sure.

She hurriedly packed her things in order to return to Longbourn.

“Why, Lizzy,” said Charlotte, “you are going home so soon?”

“I fear I must, Charlotte dear. How did matters proceed with your husband last night? When you returned to bed I mean.”

“What do you mean, Lizzy?” said Charlotte with a shy little smile.

“I mean, did Mr Collins perform his husbandly duty? Did he make love to you, Charlotte?”

“I woke him and tried all my feminine wiles. He didn’t seem very interested until I told him that the Bible says a husband should comfort his wife. Perhaps twice.”

“And?”

“That seemed to convince him. He extinguished the candles and lifted up his nightshirt. He then lifted my nightdress and positioned himself on top of me. Then he made love to me for three minutes or so.”

“I’m very sorry. Charlotte.”

“It’s no matter, Lizzy. I waited for him to roll over and fall asleep. Then I pleasured myself with my little wooden dildo.”

Lizzy looked at her.

“You mean the one we shared together when we were alone a few months ago?”

“Yes. And I thought of you the whole time.”

Lizzy remembered that day all too well.
